Robert Wayne Newman Sr.

Robert Wayne Newman, Sr., 71, of McKenney, VA, died Thursday, March 16, 2017. Born in Amma, WVA, he was the son of the late Lewis Everett Newman and Geraldine Osborne Davis. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Wayne Newman, Jr. Mr. Newman retired as a supervisor after 25 years of work as an industrial paint contractor at Philip Morris. A faithful member of Yale Seventh Day Adventist Church, he enjoyed singing and loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Jean Miller Newman; daughter, Lisa Newman Westerman of Chester; son Richard Todd Newman and wife, Shy, also of Chester; grandchildren, Robert Wayne Newman, III, currently serving in Afghanistan, and wife, Crystal, Jeremiah Scott Newman of Hopewell, Timothy Brian Bacigalupi of McKenney, Sydney Nicole Estes of Chester, Crystal Puckett, Candice Milliman, Anthony Brown, Miranda Brown, and Corbin Brown; great-granddaughter, Malia Liberty Newman; sister, Julia Ann Samples; and brother, Hoyt Everett Newman and wife, Sandy. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and caregivers of Crater Community Hospice for their outstanding care and support. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Monday, March 20, at Yale Seventh Day Adventist Church followed by interment at Southlawn Memorial Park.
