Robert Julius Newton, 95, of Disputanta, VA passed away Monday, January 24, 2011 in Southside Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Charles H. and Elnora Blackman Newton, the widower of Irene Newton and the last survivor of ten siblings. Mr. Newton was a WW II Veteran who served in the U.S. Army where he received many honors. He enjoyed many hobbies such as wood working, fishing, working in his garden, reading and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Newton retired from civil service at Ft. Lee, VA. He is survived by two sons, Robert J. Newton. and his wife Jinda, William B. Newton and his wife Linda, a daughter, Phyllis Johnson and her husband Jim, Grandchildren, Donna Hilley and her husband Stephen, Phyllis Almarode and her husband Brian, Kyle Newton, Katie Newton, Robbie Johnson, and Sam Johnson, great grandsons, Aidan and Rhys Hilley and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Wayne Rickman of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating.
