Robert Hancock Sordelett, 76, of Hopewell died, Tuesday, December 5, 2006 in John Randolph Medical Center. He was a life-long resident of Hopewell. Mr. Sordelett was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, during the Korean conflict, a retired Civil Service employee at Ft. Lee, a member of the Ft. Lee Credit Union , served as a volunteer with the John Randolph Medical Center Auxiliary, a member of the First Baptist Church, serving as chairman of the counting committee, and a former treasurer for 20 years. He was the son of the late Edward Joseph and Marie Hancock Sordelett. Surviving are his wife, Joretta Holder Sordelett of Hopewell, three daughters, Carolyn S. Kaufman and husband Brad, Denise S. Bradshaw and husband Bobby, Elena S. Pittman and husband Greg all of Hopewell, a son, Edwin J. Sordelett and wife Pam of Prince George, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, a sister Louise S. Spatig of Hopewell, a cousin, Marion Toney of Richmond, sisters-in-law, Dorothy K. Sordelett and Wilma H. Ledford both of Hopewell. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 7, 2006 from7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 8, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Raymond and Rev. Angie Hoff officiating. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Prince George, Va.
