Robert E. Puryear, Sr., formally of Roanoke, VA, entered into eternal rest on December 1, 2007, at SRMC. He was born in Crewe, VA on February 20, 1932 to the late Robert Lee and Josie Lewis Puryear. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Winston and Carl Grady Puryear. He served as a topographer in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. Upon his return from Korea he briefly worked as a patrolman for the Petersburg Police Department. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad with 32 years of service as a Road Forman. He was the owner and lead investigator of Puryear Investigative Services. He is survived by his three children, Joy Rene` Puryear and her husband George B. Perkinson of Chester, Dana Carol Segassie and her husband Duane of Douglasville, GA, and Robert Edward Puryear Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Jacksonville, Fl; a sister, Millie Corvin of Roanoke, VA; a brother, Willie Clinton Puryear and his wife Mally of Chesterfield; four grandchildren, SSGT. Ryan Charles Clements, USAF, Matthew Francis Clements, Robert Edward Puryear III, and Daniell Rene` Segassie; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
