Robert (Bob) A. Volk, Sr., of Prince George, VA, went to be with his Heaenly Father after a courageous battle with heart and lung diseases on Friday, May 26, 2006. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on April 14, 1938. He was preceded in death by his parents, August G. & Leola Jacob Volk; and loving stepmother Francis Y. Volk. Bob served his country proudly with the U.S. Air Force for 22 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He received numerous awards and commendations; among them the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dolly Katheleen Weaver Volk; his only son, Robert (Bobby) A. Volk, Jr. and his wife Mary Tiller Volk; and three loving granddaughters who he cherished, Victoria (Tori), Christina and Abigail Volk. He is also survived by his brother, William Silverman and wife Sandy of Peralta, New Mexico; brother-in-law Rev. Dr. C.D. Weaver and wife Myra of Austin, TX; sister-in-law Elizabeth W. Thompson and husband Jim of Prince George, VA; a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Volkâ??s remains rest at the J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Hopewell, Virginia where the family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Bermuda Memorial Park immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association or charity of your choice. Mr. Volkâ??s family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Paul Fairman, Dr. Michael Hess and staff of Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia; Hospice of Virginia and the many friends and family who offered their support and love in so many ways during the past months of Mr. Volkâ??s illness.
