Robert N. "Nut" Wall, 92, of Hopewell, VA., passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012. He retired from Hercules where he had gone to work at the end of World War II. Mr. Wall was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force, serving at Gualdacanal and receiving 2 Bronze Stars for his loyal service. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vivian David Wall and Florence Wall Cox. He was born in Dinwiddie, Virginia but moved to Hopewell as a small boy and resided with his grandmother, Anna Ross Talbert , in the Woodlawn area. He is survived by his only daughter, Kay Frances Wall, of Midlothian; his granddaughter and son- in- law, Erica F. Wilhide and John F. Wilhide of Baltimore; and his two great-grandsons, John Mason Wilhide and Robert Laird Wilhide also of Baltimore; his brother, Rudolph C. Wall of Prince George; and his sister Melody Wall March of Fairfax. Mr. Wall was active for many years in the Hopewell American Legion Post 146, the Hopewell VFW Post 637, and the Hopewell Moose Lodge 1472. He was a charter member and served on many Boards of the Hopewell Yacht Club. Mr. Wall was known for his hospitality and enjoyed taking his many friends on excursions up the James on the 38' houseboat, the "Miss Kay", that he build by himself in his backyard and then docked at the Hopewell Yacht Club. Mr. Wall loved to dance and was known for his moves on the dance floor and he also enjoyed karaoke and was sure he could sing better than his brother.
