Robert Leroy Weir

Robert L. Weir, 90, of Petersburg, Virginia, died February 23, 2022. He was the son of the late Roland L. and Florence A. Weir of Baltimore, Maryland. He is a retired veteran of the U.S. Army with 22 years of service, and was awarded the Bronze Star, 2 Army commendations, and other service ribbons, including Korea and Vietnam. He also was twice past President of Petersburg Tri-Cities Life Underwriters, past member Kiwanis Breakfast Club, and an active life member Robert E. Lee Post 2239 VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Weir; sons, Roland L. Weir, II (Sue) and Kevin M. Snyder (Celeste); and daughters, Arleen M. Grammar (Rohn), Roberta C. Weed (Douglas), Barbara A. Weir, Kimberly D. Johnson (Gary), and Jennifer L. Taylor (Jonathan); 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria F. Wright (Raymond); and 7 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents and his 2 brothers, George R. Weir (Frances) of Maryland, and John C. Weir (Edeltraut) of Germany.

He worked over 8 years with Life of Virginia and over 7 years with Security Trust Insurance Companies, then retired from Brenco Inc. as a grinder, then security officer.

Services will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Southside Baptist Church in Petersburg, where he was a member for 47 years. Pastor Arthur Lands will officiate the service. The visitation will precede the service at 2:00 PM. There will be a fellowship after the service. Interment will be on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Southlawn Memorial Park, South Prince George, VA.
