Robert Lee Williams, Sr., 81, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Thomas Williams and Louise Norman Williams and his brothers, Vernon Thomas Williams, Edward Earl Williams, James Bryant Williams, and Melvin Lewis Williams. Robert enjoyed fishing tournaments with his son-in-law, George and his many friends. I am pretty sure that he is fishing now in Heaven. Robert once shared with his family that one of his favorite memories was his first day of kindergarten, when his grandma Bessie Norman walked him to school and gave him a little box of animal crackers to eat for lunch. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Evelyn T. Williams; two daughters, Cynthia Smith (David) and Catherine Grizzard (George); son, Robert Williams, Jr. (Margie); five grandchildren, David Smith (Kacee), Robert Williams III (Dawn), Amanda Shackleford (Chris), Brandy Grizzard, and Lori Bullock (Corey); five great grandchildren, Gunner Markins, Dixie Smith, Brendan Shackleford, Meadow Shackleford, and David Smith Jr. "DJ"; and two brothers, David Henry Williams and Larry Paul Williams. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Blandford Cemetery, 319 S. Crater Road, Petersburg.
The family would like to share their special memories of Robert:
Evelyn's special memory of Robert was the first time she saw him. It was love at first sight.
Cindy's special memory of her father is the conversations they had when he had stomach cancer. She will never forget those conversations. "I love you, Daddy."
Robert Jr.'s special memory of his father is the motorcycle trips they used to take together.
Cathy's special memory of her father was when he dressed up as Santa Claus and went to all of his grandchildren's houses. Daddy was a loving, caring, and generous man and father.
