Robert Bullington Wilson IV, 84, of Church Road, VA passed away on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Bullington Wilson III and Mabel Raiford Wilson; his sisters, Eugenia Wilson Newlin and Margaret Wilson Ingleman; and by his brother, Graham Wilson Raiford. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Frances Ford Wilson; his two sons: Robert Bullington Wilson V and wife Gail, of Hampton; Raiford Tucker Wilson and wife Debbie, of Dinwiddie; four grandchildren: John L. Fralick and his wife, Wendi, Matthew F. Wilson, Holly A. Middleton, and Graham R. Wilson; and three great-grandchildren: Justin and Zachary Fralick, and Andie Spillman. The family is also thankful to Bobby and Frances’ newfound friends at The Springdale Retirement Community. Bobby was born on Dec. 15, 1929 in Green Bay, VA. After graduating from Farmville High School, he attended Lynchburg College. He became a partner in the family business, Wil-Rai Orchards in Green Bay, VA, where they raised apples and peaches. In 1962, he began his railroad career as a brakeman and conductor on the Norfolk & Western Railway. After retiring in 1992, he and Frances travelled extensively, enjoying the wonders and beauty of all 50 states. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing the bounties of his considerable talent. He and Frances, along with their children and numerous friends and relatives, also spent many years both water skiing and snow skiing. Bobby was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Church Road. He was a Member of the Wilson-Hebron-Ford Ruritan Club, and also the Young at Heart Club. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4814 Courthouse Road, Church Road, VA 23833. The funeral service will be at Trinity United Methodist Church, on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 2:30 pm, with the Rev. Dr. James G. O’Quinn and Rev. Jonathan Waites officiating. Interment will be held immediately following in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cemetery Fund at Trinity UMC, 11713 Walkers Lane, Ford, VA 23850.
