Robert Givens Wynn, 85, of Dinwiddie County, departed this life Friday, July 20, 2007. He was born July 13, 1922 to the late Allie Lee Overton and Bernard Lyle Wynn of Lunenburg County, VA. He is survived by his daughters, Emily Sharon Wynn of Dinwiddie and Rita Gay Wynn of Chester; sons, Michael Sherman Wynn of Kentucky and Bernard Andrew â??Andyâ? Wynn of DeWitt; daughter-in-law, Connie Slaughter Wynn of DeWitt; grandsons, Andrew Scott Wynn of Petersburg, Aaron Shawn Wynn and wife, Rachel Rush Wynn of Dinwiddie, Michael David Wynn of Matoaca; granddaughter, Crystal Star Wynn of Colonial Heights; great-granddaughter, Kiah Michelle Jefferson of Colonial Heights; sister, Agnes Jean Mangiafico of Connecticut; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Bessie Wynn of Richmond. His wife of 52 years, Dorris Lee Harding Wynn; two brothers, Bennie Wynn and Thomas Wynn; and a sister, Edna Wade, preceded him in death. Robert served for a brief period in the U. S. Army prior to his civil service employment with the Fort Lee Fire Department. He retired as Crew Chief in 1977 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church where he served on the building & grounds committee for several years. In his lifetime, he was a member of Blandford Lodge No. 3 A. F. & A. M. and the Dinwiddie Moose Lodge. In the 1960â??s, Robert was a little league baseball coach and played softball for Matoaca Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Sunday, July 22, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service with Masonic Rites will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jon Dundalow, Pastor of Western Heights Baptist Church will be officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Kenbridge Heights Cemetery, Kenbridge, VA.
