Roberta "Joy" Joyce Robinette

Joy Robinette, 55, of Mechanicsville, VA, formerly of Virginia Beach, Tampa, Florida and Hopewell, VA, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019. Joy was preceded in death by her father, Jimmie E. Robinette. She was a graduate of Hopewell High School Class of 1981 and attended John Tyler Community College. Joy loved to volunteer her time to help others in need by delivering meals on wheels and served as a candy striper at John Randolph Medical Center for years. She worked at Allstate for 32 years. Joy enjoyed ballroom dancing, salsa and belly dancing, and spending time with her family and friends. Joy is survived by her mother, Dolly Robinette; sister Lorie Edwards and her husband, Rodney; nieces, Victoria Edwards and Brittany Edwards; and her furbaby, Sam. A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Thursday February 28, 2019 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Appomattox Cemetery.
