Roberto Manuel Lugo

Roberto Manuel Lugo was born on August 21, 1992 in Waterbury Connecticut. The Lugo family moved to Hopewell, Virginia on April 1, 1994. He is survived by a large family which includes his parents, Bishop Roberto Lugo, Sr. and Nancy Lugo; his older sister, Stephanie May and her husband, Wesley May; and their two sons, Austen May and Keanu May, his younger brother, Michael Lugo and his fiancé, Ashley Mays; and youngest brother, Xavian Lugo; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Roberto attended Hopewell public schools where he graduated in 2012. He was an active member of Hopewell High, JROTC, Hopewell High marching band, and Hopewell police explorers. He was the church drummer at house of forgiveness. Roberto also attended Wilson workforce and rehabilitation center where he was certified in B.T.I. Roberto loved cars and was a member of 804illist. He also loved playing video games, playing his drum set, and football. He was an advocate for his syndrome Jarcho-Levin, where he helped other families with his testimony. Roberto was loved by all who met him. He lived his life to the fullest and never accepted the word “can’t”. The Lugo family asks that in honor of Roberto’s love for the Pittsburgh Steelers that you represent him by wearing black and yellow. The family will receive friends from 4:00p.m.-6:00p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Joy Fellowship Worship Center, 1001 Perrymont Road, Hopewell, VA 23860. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019, also at the church. Family and friends will gather from 10:00am-11:00 am at the church on Saturday, March 16, 2019, and leave in procession at 11:00a.m. for the interment in Centralia Cemetery.
