Roger Christopher Comer was born on December 15, 1934, in South Boston, VA and lived
his life in Chester, VA. Roger served in the U.S. Air Force for six years working as a jet aircraft mechanic and then began his work at Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company in Petersburg.

Family and friends always came first for Roger. Roger was happiest when everyone was together, and he and Lois would spend a great deal of time with their adult children and grandchildren in their homes and at the lake. Roger took great pride in his work as a machinist and enjoyed repairing any and everything. He served as the President of Local 802, Machinist and Aerospace Workers Union retiring in 1985. Roger always made sure that his family was having a good time. The family camped at Palmer’s Point at Buggs Island for many years, water skiing, fishing, and camping. Roger fulfilled his lifelong dream, retiring early and purchasing a troller boat, “The Remoc”, sailing to Florida and living with Lois in the Bahamas. Roger loved to scuba dive and fish and remained active traveling with his best friend, Gippy Belcher, to repair cigarette machines across USA and Canada.
