Roger Steven Garrison, transitioned from this life on June 15, 2023. He was at home surrounded by family and friends. Roger loved his family most of all, but also had a great love for music, the Tennessee Volunteers, and his cats. He was a one of a kind person that touched thousands of lives just by his fun personality, his pure heart, kindness, sense of humor, knowledge, and advocacy for organ donation. In person and through his huge social media presence, Roger touched and influenced people around the world. Roger also got to live out his long time dream of becoming friends with and working for his rock music idol.
Roger was born on October 16, 1964, in Rockwood, TN. He moved to Virginia with his family when he was young, and went to school and raised his family there. He lived the last 14 years in the Chattanooga, TN area and recently moved back to Virginia. He is preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Gene Garrison. He is survived by his sons, Eric Vincent Garrison (Ruzen Baluyot) and Zakkary Criss Garrison (Ariel); grandchildren, Miles Benjamin Garrison, Novaleigh Falon Garrison, Joshua Useldinger, and Aurora Smith; his mother, Joan Collett Alexy; his stepfather, Dwight Alexy; sister, Vicky Garrison; and brother, Daryl Garrison; his stepmother, Margie Garrison; stepsisters, Stacey Wyatt and Shelly Taylor; and stepbrother, Glenn Wyatt; his love, Karrie Dills, who cared for him tirelessly during his illness; many cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, countless friends; and his cat, Regan. He also leaves behind his "liver mama", as he called her, Angela. Without her selfless donation of a portion of her liver, Roger would have never seen and enjoyed the last 4 years of his life.
Please join us in a celebration of Roger's life on Saturday, June 24, 2023. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. at the Petersburg chapel of J.T.
