Roma V. Ballard, 70 of Providence Forge, VA died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 in Memorial Regional Medical Center. She was born in Granite City, IL and was formerly of Hopewell. Mrs. Ballard was a member of the Hopewell Women of the Moose, First Baptist Church in Hopewell and bowled in the Thursday Morning Coffee League at Oaklawn Bowl. After retiring from Philip Morris as a computer operator with 20 years service, she drove a school bus for the City of Hopewell for over 12 years. Mrs. Ballard was fondly known as â??Grandmaâ?. She was the daughter of the late Raymond S. and Margaret Fee Vaughn. Mrs. Ballard is survived by her husband of 41 years, Gary W. Ballard of Providence Forge, a son, CWO3 Paul R. Robertson of the United States Coast Guard assigned to the Command and Control Engineering Center in Portsmouth and his wife Diane of Chesapeake, VA, two daughters, Vickie M. Butler of Hopewell, Jessica Renee Ballard of Ashland, six grandchildren, Cody, Ethan, and Brandi Robertson, Bryan Butler of Hawaii, Phillip R. Butler and his wife Tiffanie of Hopewell, Reighan Paige Ballard of Ashland, three great grandchildren, Chardonnay Butler of Hawaii, Phillip and Shania Butler of Hopewell, a brother, Raymond S. Vaughn, Jr. of High Ridge, MO, a sister, Helen Ortolan of Granite City, IL, adopted daughters, Peggy, Drema, and Margie. The family will receive friends Friday, March 21, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 11:00 AM in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George County with the Rev. Dr. Ivan Perkinson officiating.
