Ronald Bumgardner

Joe Bumgardner, age 69, of Chester, VA, passed away on March 1, 2011. He was born in Caewood, KY, the son of Paul Bumgardner and the late Roxie Miller. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Bumgardner, son, Jeffery Scott Bumgardner; grandson, David Berkley Call; mother, Roxie Bumgardner; and brother, Jerry Baumgardner. Joe had been a resident of Chester since 1976, was retired from UPS, and was the founder of JB Mulch Inc. on Chester Road. He was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church and currently attended Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Joe was on many bowling leagues at Holiday Bowl and Colonial Heights Bowling Alley, an avid gardener and a member of Benâ??s Den fishing club. He was a devoted husband, father and brother and is survived by; daughters, Kim Marble and husband Jeffrey of Mechanicsville, Pam Call and husband David of Chester, Cathy White and husband Jimmy of Chester, Jennifer Wells and husband Bo of Chester; brother, Charlie Bumgardner; sisters, Pauline Cantrell, Barbara Carpenter, Vicky McAllister and Wanda Bailey; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Kristen, Jesse, Maegan, Tyler, Mariah, Grace, Scott and Karley. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Chester chapel of J. T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow there on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with entombment to follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
