Ronald Lee Cordle

Ronald Lee Cordle, 73, of Hopewell, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. Born in Ohio, he was the son of the late Thurman A. Cordle and Cornelia O. Blake Cordle. He was also preceded in death by his relatives of the Blake and Cordle Family; and brother, Michael Cordle.
He is survived by his wife, Sawang Cordle; children, Thurman Cordle, Sherman Cordle, and Janet Cordle-Fry; son-in-law, Nicholas Fry; grandchildren, Brandon Daugherty and Jaina Fry; and niece, Michelle Cordle-Cook.
Mr. Cordle was a U.S. Army Veteran, retiring as Sergeant First Class after 20+ years of service. He went on to work in the Civil Service at Department of Defense MWR. He provided recreational services to help the morale and welfare of service members and their families. He had a strong passion for the Boy Scouts. He served over 20 years as Boy Scout Master for Troop 912 and 976. He enjoyed motivating young men to earn the rank of Eagle Scout by instilling leadership qualities and the necessary skills to prepare them for life. He had a heart of gold and always put others first, but his most prized possession was his family, of whom he loved dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for distribution to Ronald’s favorite charities. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
