Ronald Maynard Hannon, 74 years old, of Chester, VA passed away at his home on January 1, 2019.
Ronald was born October 21, 1944, in Marshall, Missouri to John M. and Wanda B. Hannon of Slater, Missouri. Ron grew up in Slater and attended Slater, Mo Public Schools. He graduated with the class of 1962. A few months later he joined the U.S. Army and served until 1965. In the fall of 1965, Ron continued his education by attending the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo. where he obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
On August 24, 1968, Ron married his wife, Linda. To this union three children were born. They are Becky Annette, Bethni Alicia, and Mark Travis.
In the early 1970’s Ron reentered military service by serving with various National Guard and Reserve units. In 1978, he became a federal employee and worked with the Dept. of Agriculture, Dept. of the Army and Dept. of Defense. As he moved with his civilian job, he served in various National Guard and Reserve units across the U.S. Ron retired from the military with the rank of Lt. Colonel in 2004. He retired from civilian service in 2005. Lt. Colonel Hannon (retired) is a member of the Richmond, Virginia Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Surviving Ron are his wife Linda of the home, his daughter Becky(Gavin) Chloe, Claudia, Cassandra and Ezekiel Boyd of Fredericksburg, VA; daughter Bethni(Richard) Ava, Abigail and Audrey Lee of Rougemont, N.C.; his son Mark(Tonya) and Jeremiah of South Chesterfield, VA.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by J.T. Morris of Chester, VA and Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home of Marshall, MO with burial in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall, MO.
