SSG Ronald Monroe Lovern, U.S. Army (Retired), 74, of Stony Creek, VA, died Wednesday, October 05, 2016. Born in Elliott, VA, he was the son of the late Giles Coleman Lovern and Faye Walker Kreimeyer. He was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Irvin Lovern. Anyone who knew Ron knows that he was a man who was always busy doing something. Ron dedicated 25 years of service to the U.S. Army including service in Vietnam. He loved riding his tractor in the scorching heat or the frigid cold, taking Jazzie on trips in his front seat, and drinking coffee with Georgia on the front poarch. Ron went out of his way to help his family and friends, and would give a stranger the shirt off his back. Ron is survived by his wife, Georgia Nester Lovern; his children, Becky L. Stryker, Rhonda L. Brown and husband, Roger, and Steven M. Lovern, Sr. and wife, Anita; grandchildren, Shane R. Stryker, Vincent R. Brown and wife, Madison, Steven M. Lovern, Jr., Somer D. Brown, Austin B. Lovern, and Andrew B. Lovern; great-grandchildren, Jillian I. Stryker and Lorelei R. Stryker; siblings, Eleanor Prater, Jane Scheid, Kim Kreimeyer, and LaMarr Kreimeyer, as well as many nieces and nephews, many beloved family and friends, and his beloved dog, Jazzie. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
