Ronald Edward Luck, age 76, of Chester, VA, passed away Monday, June 13, 2011. He was born in Hopewell, VA, the son of the late Marshall Crawford and Edith Wood Luck. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Joyce S. Luck; children, Steven Howard Luck, Donna Lynn Wilder and husband Kenneth, and Todd Marshall Luck; granddaughters, Rhonda Louise Wilder and Makayla Ann Wilder; sister, Patricia Stallard; and a niece, Kathryn Ridder. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and son Eddie Campbell. As a young man, Ronald excelled in football and boxing. He was a center for Hopewellâ??s undefeated football team and won a football scholarship to Chowan College; however, he left school to manage his fatherâ??s barber shop, and was also a member of the army reserve. Ronald was a prominent and highly respected businessman in Hopewell and Chesterfield. He was the owner of Luck Bail Bonding Co. and Luck Barber Shop. Ronald loved the outdoors and was renowned as a goose and turkey hunter as well as fisherman. He was a popular and skilled skeet and trap shooter traveling across the country to participate in shooting competitions. During his life he helped many others learn the skills of shooting, hunting, fishing and how to enjoy the outdoors. Of all of his accomplishments, he considered his children to be his greatest achievement. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chester chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with interment afterwards in the Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell.
