Ronald Glenn Poythress

Ronald Glenn Poythress, 63, of Chesterfield, VA, died April 9, 2024. Born in Henderson, NC, and resided in Chesterfield Co, VA. He was the son of William Hull Poythress and Nellie Cooper Poythress (Evans), and devoted many hours volunteering in his community and serving his country. Mr. Poythress served in the US Army Reserves, and volunteered at several rescue squads, including Bensley-Bermuda Rescue Squad and served as a Police Officer with the Petersburg Bureau of Police. He had a blue heart and dedicated his life in service to his family, country, and community, and believed his purpose in life was to help others. Ron was also an avid scuba and cave diver, and loved turkey hunting. He had a passion for spending time with his wife in the Blue Ridge Mountains and at the beach in Buxton, NC. Most of all, he cherished his wife and loved her with all his being.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Poythress was preceded in death by a sister, Frieda Thompson (Poythress); and three brothers, Gene, Wayne, and Charles Medlin. He is survived by his devoted soulmate and wife of 22 years, Ann Stark Poythress; daughters, Kimberly Poythress McKay and Christina Poythress Eure; sons, Ronald Poythress (Ashley), and William (Sophia) and Thomas (Page) Weaver; sisters-in-law, Sharon Partee and Melinda Martin; father-in-law, Lawrence Stark; grandchildren, Rachel Husk, Deana, Maria, and Janette Canales, Abigail, James, and Joseph Eure, Jordyn, Hannah, Miller, Audrina, and Eleanore Poythress, Aiden Weaver, Daimon Burchell, Ren and Scarlett Holt, Luna Hussein, and baby girl Weaver due in June; two great-grandsons; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and his Friday morning breakfast brothers.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with Chaplain Gibson of the American Legion Post 284 in Colonial Heights, VA officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers, www.t2t.org .
