It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ronald Lee Rowe, of Chester, Virginia, who left us on Sunday, February 26, 2023. He was the first of fraternal twins born on June 24, 1946, to the late Howard William Rowe, Sr. and the late Beulah Petersen Rowe. His twin, Donald Dean Rowe; and his younger brother, Howard William Rowe, Jr., both preceded him in death.
Growing up, Ron and his brothers would often get into mischief, but they were loyal friends. The Rowe family moved with their Dad in the U.S. Army, including graduating from high school in Hawaii. The family returned to Virginia, and Ron earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1970. He remained close to his family throughout his life and stayed particularly close to his nephew, Scott Allen Rowe.
Ron taught in Prince George County Public Schools and was proud of his 38.5 years of service. He was a history buff and took pleasure in trivia games, especially Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy!. He enjoyed watching all types of sports and was an avid golfer. Ron and one of his closest friends, Earl Burton, enjoyed countless rounds of golf throughout Virginia. After retirement, he was able to join the Colonial Heights Seniors Golf Club and looked forward to his weekly rounds with new friends, most often at Prince George Country Club and later The Cardinal Club at Fort Lee.
He leaves to cherish his memory his nephew and family, Scott Rowe (Courtney), of Mechanicsville, Virginia, and their daughter, Caroline. Also left to mourn his loss are sisters-in-law, Sara Rowe, of Chesterfield, Virginia, and Vickie Rowe, of Roanoke, Virginia; as well as his niece, Kristy Baucom (Mike) and family; and special cousins, Tonja Anderson (George) and family. He will be missed by friends, many cousins, fellow golfers, and former co-workers.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chester Chapel at J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Feed More (
