Ronald “Casey” Cornelius Van Haren, 37, of Hopewell passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. At the young age of four years old, Casey began his journey in martial arts, alongside his father at Virginia Taekwondo Institute, where earned a 3rd degree black belt in Hapkido and a 4th degree black belt in taekwondo. He also studied in Korea with the Grandmasters. Affectionately known as Master Casey, he had a great passion for his craft and for his students. He loved his family and regularly enjoyed taking joyrides with his children in his truck. He loved to go fishing, where he found solace, and was a gun enthusiast. Casey also loved traveling and has visited his family’s home country in the Netherlands numerous times. He has also traveled to the Caribbean many times, Hawaii, France and Ireland. He is survived by his father, Ronald Van Haren; two loving mothers, Sharon Van Haren and Pamela Hicks-Van Haren; two children, Judo & Rudy Van Haren; three siblings, Shannon Van Haren Ingram and husband, Nigel, Chase Van Haren, Shane Van Haren; grandmother, Joyce Hicks; companion, Siona Crawford; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family members. A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday March 10, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 151 W Washington St, Petersburg, VA 23803. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Homes and Crematory, 103 S.
