Rose Marie White Lough

July 16, 1945 — January 14, 2025

It’s with heavy hearts that the family of Rose Marie White Lough announce her peaceful passing on January 14, 2025, in Surfside Beach, SC. Daughter of Chesley Ford and Lydia Bresko White, she was 79 years old and loved by many. Rose is survived by her husband, Willard Burton Lough; daughter, Ruth Aten-Shearwood and wife, Rosanna; sons, Phillip (PR) Blunt, Jr. and Fredrick (Rick) Blunt II and wife, Ashley; step-daughter, Samantha Anderson; numerous step-grandchildren; step-son, William Lough; sisters, Barbara White Jernigan and husband, Jerry, Chestine White Elmore and husband, Alfred, and Lynda Mae White; brother, Ronnie Ford White; niece, Lydia Lee Poole; nephews, Owen O. Poole III and John-Chesley White Poole and wife, Asneidi; three great-nephews, Bryson, Connor, and Carter Poole; and five grand-dogs, although Cooley was her favorite.

Rose graduated from Petersburg High School in 1963 and attended Richard Bland College. Before retiring, she did contract services at Medical University of South Carolina – Radiation Oncology and later worked in Radiology Oncology Transcription at Sibley Memorial Hospital, Johns Hopkins Medicine. Rose lived in Northern Virginia for many years with Will, PR, and Rick, where she loved being a soccer mom. She wasn’t just a personal soccer mom but a team soccer mom, continuing her relationships with former friends and teammates for years. In later years, she lived her dream of living by the ocean at Surfside Beach. She and Will loved taking their visitors on golf cart rides down the street to the beach.

Although Rose loved working in the yard with her plants and flowers, her favorite time was spent watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. Her home was filled with vintage furniture, numerous family photos, special mementoes, and lots of yellow, her favorite color. Rose supported her family members whenever they needed help as she was a caring and generous person. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. She touched the lives of all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Southlawn Memorial Park, in South Prince George, Virginia at 11:00 am.
