Ross Richmond Holsclaw, Jr.

Ross Richmond Holsclaw, Jr., 86, of Spring Grove, VA passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018. Born in Hopewell, VA he was the son of the late Ross R. Holsclaw, Sr. and Marie Elizabeth Livingstone Holsclaw; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Childress Holsclaw; and two sisters, Frances Brown and Elizabeth Sierichs. Mr. Holsclaw was a United States Navy veteran, and was discharged with the rank of 2nd Petty Officer. He retired from Smurfitt Stone as the Assistant Production Supervisor after 43 years of service. Mr. Hosclaw was a member of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and was also a member of Johnson’s United Methodist Church in Machipongo, VA. He had a deep love for his family and will be remembered by many as an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by the mother of his children, Mary Nell Holsclaw; his children, Debbie Young (Bruce), Cathy Holsclaw (Tina), David Holsclaw (Linda) and Ross Holsclaw, III; five grandchildren, Wayne Holsclaw, Ross Holsclaw, IV, Megan Young, Paul Holsclaw and Joshua Holsclaw; two step-daughters, Terri Jones and Robin Lee; three sisters, Kathryn Hunter, Jean Ellison and Ann Hughes his loving friend, Eleanor Burns; and numerous other loving family and friends. A funeral service with military honors will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Ivan Perkinson, officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the funeral home.
