Roy Edward Lockhart, Jr., 88, of Chester, VA passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017. Born in Covington, VA he was the son of the late Roy Edward Sr., and Pearl Crowder Lockhart; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Elva (Nadine) Lockhart. Mr. Lockhart was a United States Army Veteran and had retired from Allied Signal (Honeywell) after 25 years of service. He is survived by his two sons, Allen Lockhart and wife, Debra and S. Shayne Lockhart and wife, Sherry; two granddaughters, Tammy Blake and husband, Tim and Reagan Lockhart; two great-grandchildren, Kaylie and Chase Blake; three sisters, Mary Wolf, Lola Angel and Phyllis Burr; two brothers, James “Blue” and Gerald Lockhart; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Lockhart family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caring and compassionate staff at Sunflower Gardens Memory Care Center of Hopewell. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service until 6:00 p.m. A graveside committal service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Alleghany Memorial Park, 7008 Winterberry Ave., Covington, VA 24426.
