Roy Iver Mitchell Sr.

82, of Chesterfield, VA passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lillie Mitchell; son, Roy Mitchell, Jr., and a daughter, Michelle Mitchell Richmond; sisters, Margie Cox, Connie Mitchell, Helen Creasy and Phyllis Dunford. He is survived by his loving wife, Sieglinde Mitchell; and his children, Ronald T. Fairburn, John Fairburn and wife Tonya, and Angela V. Hunter; grandchildren, Caleb and Kincaid Fairburn; Louis A. Vairo, Jr., Victoria L. Hunter; great-grandchild, Lily Ann Vairo; sisters, Fay Landrum and husband Earl, and Beverly Wilson; numerous extended family and friends. Roy was a United States Army veteran and a member of Lakemount Baptist Church in Petersburg, VA where he served as a Deacon. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd., Chester, VA 23831. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
