Roy Elliott Myrick, 102, of Petersburg, VA, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at Dunlop House Assisted Living. Born June 12, 1916 in Petersburg, VA, he was the son of the late Roy and Bertie King Myrick. A humble person of few words, Roy was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Italy. A proud member of the 10th Mountain Infantry Division Ski Troops, he was awarded the Bronze Star for courageous action. Roy was a member of Colonial Heights VFW Post 2239 and the Washington DC Chapter of the 10th Mountain Division. He retired from Allied Chemical (Honeywell) in 1981 after 35 years of service. Roy is survived by his wife of 78 years, Eliza C. Myrick; son, Robert Allen Myrick of Colonial Heights, VA; brother, Edwin A. Myrick of Daleville, VA; cousins, LaVerne Snowden of Chester, VA, and Elaine Schools of Glen Allen, VA, and their families. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home followed by interment at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service.
