Ruby Boyd

Ruby Jean Boyd, 74, of Chester, passed away on July 7, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Grandy and Orpha Gertrude Williams Payne, and was also preceded in death by her husband, John Boyd. Mrs. Boyd was a member of Walmsley Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Tammie Reid of Chester, and Joanne Cook of Colonial Heights; a grandson, John Reid (Jennie); granddaughter, Jennifer Cook; two great granddaughters, Ashley and Brianna Reid; two sisters, Theada Jones of Hampton, and May Payne of Manteo, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rodney Jenkins, officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Chester YMCA, 3011 W. Hundred Rd., Chester, VA 23831.
