Ruby Christine Lockey

Ruby Lockey, 86, of Hopewell, passed away on Monday, February 08, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stinson and Bertha Hardin Ivey; and her husband, Mitchell Baker Lockey. Ruby retired from Hercules, Inc., after more than 20 years of service. She was a Woodman of the World member and loved traveling with friends and family. Ruby was an active member of Powers Memorial Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Every Friday and Saturday she would meet at the local Hardees to socialize with a group of close friends. These ladies became known as the “Hardees Girls.” Ruby is survived by her son, Randy Lockey and wife, Heather of Sugar Hill, GA; grandson, Quinn Lockey of Sugar Hill, GA; 3 sisters, Melba Walters and husband, Guthrie of Lumberton, NC, Margaret Simmons of Lumberton, NC and Hazel Owens of Laurinburg, NC; brother, Stinson Ivey, Jr. and his wife, Edith of Hopewell, VA; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at Powers Memorial Baptist Church on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Appomattox Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Thursday , February 11, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
