RUBY PETTREY RATCLIFF, 94, a former resident of Waverly, VA, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2005 in Orlando, FL. Born in West Virginia she was the daughter of the late Bub Pettrey and Gerusa Pettrey. She was the wife of the late Shirley Kay Ratcliff. They made their home in Norfolk, VA from 1940 until 1972 when they moved to Waverly where they lived until 1978. She was a member of the Waverly Baptist Church. Mrs. Ratcliff is also predeceased by a son, Thomas Preston Ratcliff; and a grandson, Joshua K. Varner.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley r. Conlon of Orlando, FL; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joyce Soucy, Lois Ritter, and Ann Wyatt.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Wakefield, with the Rev. Keith Whitfield, pastor of Waverly Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Waverly Cemetery.
