Ruby Estelle Wells Perkins, 92, of Petersburg, died Monday, July 05, 2004. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Norman Clifton and Cora Mears Wells. She was the widow of Dr. Spencer Vaughan Perkins, Sr. and a charter member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of Petersburg Chapter 1399 AARP, a member of Alpha Chapter #1 OES, and a volunteer for many year with the American Red Cross. Mrs. Perkins is survived by a daughter, Shirley Perkins Jezierski (Mike) of Richmond; two sons, Spencer V. Perkins, Jr. (Pat) of Petersburg and Earl Claiborne Perkins (Mary Lee) of Eden, N. C.; seven grandchildren, Sharon J. Gilmore, Linda J. Bowles (Bryan), Michael Jezierski (Janice), Spencer V. Perkins, III (Nina), Mark Edward Perkins, Stephanie P. Boothe (Mark), and Heather P. Dalton; ten great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred W. Klingbiel and Alice W. Sturt. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 8, at Blandford Cemetery with the Rev. C. Bailey Jones and the Rev. Robert Hauck officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Wednesday at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
