Rudolph E. “Rudy” Ferrell, 81, of Chester, a U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran serving on the USS Ajax; a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 3, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee M. and Bertha M. Ferrell; his brother, Calvin Lee Ferrell; sisters, Ethel Collins, and Lucille Wimmer. He is survived by his wife, L. Mae Ferrell; five daughters, Kelly Koogler (Mike), Diane Morse (Curtis), Lauren Carmichael (Hoagy), Lisa Ferrell, and Linda Daniels (Kennedy); seven grandchildren, Amanda Billings (Tony), Brandon Weeks (fiancée, Amanda), Rick Morse (Nina), Rachel Pastorfield (Travis), Goldie Daniels, Parker Daniels, and Kendall Daniels; three great-grandchildren, Savannah Pastorfield, Cheyenne Pastorfield, and Hannah Billings; his two sisters, Helen Clark (Frank) and Peggy Schwartz (Junie); and numerous nieces and nephews. He retired from Philip Morris and spent his retirement enjoying his family. Rudy had a great sense of humor, loved working in the yard, and he will be cherished forever in our hearts. He will be truly missed. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5th at the Chester Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park.
