Rudolph Louis Hotz, 93, a resident of Little Sisters of the Poor in Richmond, VA and former resident of Petersburg, passed away Monday, April 26, 2010. Born in Chesterfield County, he was the son of the late Charles Edward and Anne Marie Blaha Hotz. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a long-time member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Legion of Mary. Mr. Hotz retired from H & S Equipment in 1981, after over 40 years selling John Deere tractors and equipment. He was a self-taught woodworker and artisan, and was an avid volunteer and gardener. Mr. Hotz was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Christine Reiter Hotz. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia H. Kolakoski of Springfield, VA and Mary Frances H. Redding of Alexandria, VA; sons, William Louis Hotz of Marietta, GA and Rudolph David Hotz of LaGrange, KY; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Rosemary Scarborough of Colonial Heights and Ann Elizabeth Michalek of Chester; brothers, Joseph J. Hotz and Frank D. Hotz both of Chester. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Christian Wake service beginning at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 29th at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Monsignor Michael Schmied, Celebrant.
