Rupert Ashley Collins, 82, of Chester, VA passed away peacefully on the morning of January 12, 2019. He was preceded in death by his precious step-daughter, Shannon Denise Mitchell; and his very special brother-in-law, Robert Tyree Cutts. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Ronda B. Collins; two daughters, Deborah Archibald (Dave) of Maryland and Cindi Tuma (Billy) of Petersburg; a son, Kenneth Collins (Yurelby) of Sutherland; step-daughter, Tracy Thomas (Mark) of Chester; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces, Cory Goupil and fiancé, Bob Chase, and Marlo Ferguson (Kenny); a nephew, Clay Cutts (Bonnie); his devoted sister-in-law, Darlene B. Cutts; and a very special friend to the end, Jim McBride. Rupert honorably served in the United States Air Force and went on to retire from Allied Chemical (Honeywell) as a foreman with 33 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking, but most of all spending time with family and his companion dog, Paula Deen. Rupert was blessed with a large circle of friends that he enjoyed vacationing with every year. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
