Russell David Hardy, 74, of Petersburg, widower of Ayako Honda Hardy, died Thursday, April 22, 2004 in Southside Regional Medical Center. He was born in Ettrick and was the son of the late Harry Russell and Eva Wall Hardy. He proudly served in the U. S. Army for 20 years and retired as a Korean War veteran. He is survived by seven children, Eva Hardy, Shirley Ryder (Mike), Virginia Wilson (Sam), Kay Warren (Jodie), Anne Sherrick, David Hardy (Sarah) and Iris Hardy; 13 grandchildren, Samuel Wilson, Angela Croft (Rob), Kiyomi Wilson, Noelle Wilson, Tera Ryder, Karl Lee Soloe, Jr., Nicolette Wilson, Ali Hughes, Caitlin Hardy, Cooper Hardy, Kelly Soloe, Roxy Sherrick and Lindsay Warren; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Joshua Croft; and a sister, Dora Pritchett. Graveside services will be held Monday, April 26, 2004, at 11 a.m. in Blandford Cemetery with Rev. Jim Blankenship officiating. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
