Ruth Mallory Cerny, 82, died in the early morning on Saturday, August 25, 2007. She was the second youngest child of the late Walter Franklin Mallory and Elizabeth Vaughn Mallory of Petersburg. Ruth was a long time resident of Hopewell and was living at Brighter Living in Hopewell. She was an active member of the John Randolph Hospital Auxiliary for many years especially known for her work in the gift shop. She was a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Womenâ??s Society there. Ruth was active in many charity programs in her community. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Cerny and is survived by her son, Charles Wayne Cerny and wife Sandra of Richmond, KY; her daughter Joanne Cerny Tucker and husband Craig of Nelson; her brother, Howard Mallory of Dewitt; grandsons Michael W. Cerny and wife Amy of Houston, TX, Mark A. Cerny and wife Donna of Murphy, TX, J. Chad Tucker of Radford, Matthew C. Tucker of Chester; granddaughters Arien K. Jolly and husband John of Chester, Michelle L. Westbay and husband Clay of Chester; great-grandsons Zachary A. Cerny and Elias J. Cerny of Murphy, TX. The family will receive friends Monday, August 27th from 6 to 8 pm at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10am at Southlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Wayne Rickman officiating.
