Ruth Marie Cook

Ruth Marie Cook, 90, of Dinwiddie, died on Monday, September 7,2015. She was born in Petersburg the daughter of the late Robert and Bessie Humphries Ellison. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Cook, brother, Robert Burns, and sister, Elizabeth Young Ridout. Mrs. Cook loved children and taught Sunday school and was a Teacher’s Aide for Petersburg’s Stonewall Jackson and JEB Stuart Schools. She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Faye Wright and husband, Bob of Chester, and Debra Kay Harrison of Dinwiddie, grandsons, Michael Ernest Vaughan of Hopewell and David Lee Vaughan of Dinwiddie, brothers, Charles Ellison and wife, June of Matoaca, and Samuel Ellison and wife, Charlotte of Prince George, several nieces and nephews, one very devoted friend she loved dearly, Shirley Wray and a special caring nurse Dixie Disher. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, September 10th at Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son and process to the cemetery. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
