Ruth Estelle Thaxton Maag stepped out of the chaos of this earthly world into the Glory of the Presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in the peaceful, loving surroundings of her home. Born on January 30, 1925 in Halifax, VA to Charles Boyd and Della Thaxton who preceded her in death. Two siblings, Lewis Thaxton and Polly Carr, of Halifax preceded her in death; an infant grandson, Ronnie Tucker, also preceded her in death. Ruth married her beloved sweetheart, Ken, on December 25, 1943 and enjoyed 57 years of marriage until his death on May 3, 2000. Left to cherish her memory and wisdom of a life well lived are her children, Charles Maag, Kurt Maag and Sharon Tucker Bedker all of Washington State, and Karen Sue Hardy and devoted son-in-law, Donald Hardy of Chester. She was also blessed with 11 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren. Ruth loved her family and loved her Lord with her whole heart. She shared the light and wisdom of the truth of God’s word with everyone she came in contact with. She left this world with great anticipation for her new life in heaven. The family will receive friends from 4 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 am on Monday, July 21, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, with Rev. Garvin D. Byrd, officiating. Condolences may be registered at
