Ruth Mary Strouth

Ruth Mary Strouth, 91, of DeWitt, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Waldo Torrey and Mary Bernice Wile Harlow. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Joseph Staszewski; daughter, Nancy Laurel Staszewski Chaisson; brothers, Waldo T. Harlow, Jr. and Joseph H. Harlow. Ms. Strouth’s career as a registered nurse spanned nearly 60 years. She retired after 34 years at Southside Regional Medical Center then continued her career at Central State Hospital. She was an avid runner and member of the Tri-Cities Roadrunners. She also enjoyed painting, knitting and crocheting. She is survived by her children, Ruth Ann Staszewski, Mary Ellen Staszewski, and Edward Arthur Staszewski and fiancé, Kimberly James; grandchildren, George Gregory Strouth, Carleigh Rae Staszewski, Michelle Chaisson Kotarski, Edward Hayden Staszewski and Michael Cox; a great-granddaughter, Sophia Kotarski. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 6616 Boydton Plank Road.
