Sallie Shores

Sallie H. Shores, 91, of Dewitt, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2011. She was employed by the Hopewell School System as a Food Service Worker at Carter G. Woodson for over thirty years. Mrs. Shores loved flowers and maintained her flower garden meticulously. She enjoyed decorating especially around the holidays. Mrs. Shores was a faithful member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris Hartless and Lillie Tomlin Hartless; her husband, Johnnie Shores; son, Harwood R. Lowe, Sr.; and sister, Cammie B. Nicholson. Mrs. Shores is survived by her devoted daughter, Sally W. Knight and her husband Carl, daughters, Merle J. Cox and her husband Leaman, Patricia L. Scott, Mary L. Cabaniss and her husband Gordon, Earnestine Brown; daughter-in-law Trudy Lowe; thirteen grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Hopewell chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the funeral home chapel. interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery .
