Sam Larue Hicks

Sam L. “Dudy” Hicks, 83, of Dinwiddie County, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Helen Jones Hicks, a son Glen L. Hicks, a daughter Brenda C. Hicks; a brother Bright Hicks, a sister Maxine Gunnell, and loving companion Yorkie Abbey. Sam proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a retiree of Honeywell. He is survived by his wife, Teressa Pulley Hicks; son, Gary C. Hicks; sister, Jane Buren and husband, John; brother, Jack Hicks and wife, Sally; two granddaughters, Michele Stender and husband, Rick and Lauren Hicks; grandson, Jed Hicks and wife, Ashley; two sister-in-laws, Elizabeth Martin and Betty Hicks; close friend, Martina Cassidy; many nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday December 9, 2012 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A Funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 pm Monday, December 10, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
