Samantha Hamilton

d. June 29, 2011

Samantha Greer Hamilton, a graduate of Southview High School Class of 09, Hope Mills, NC, died tragically Monday of upper respiratory complications. Majoring in Communications and Minoring in Film Studies at East Carolina University, she would have been a junior this fall. Her long-time dream of planning and organizing film and music festivals will never be realized, but she did get to enjoy her life her way in her 19 years. She was a cheerleader and dance student at Southview High and the secretary of the GLBT club at ECU. She had a passion and a zest for life and could always make everyone else feel comfortable with her smile that would light up a room. Samantha was saved when she was 9 years old at Enon Baptist Church in Chester, VA and was able to experience living in Texas, Hawaii, Virginia, Massachusetts, and North Carolina because of military parents. Her love of travel took her all the way to England, France, and Germany. Samantha's passion for music was showcased in all the concerts and festivals she attended. She was happiest when she danced at a concert. Sam has seen her favorite band Tegan and Sara four times and also attended Moogfest, Warped Tour, and Bonnaroo. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her mother and stepfather, Shawn and Dow Davis of Hope Mills, NC; by her father and stepmother, Peter and Melissa Accurso; her brother and sister, Christopher and Summer Accurso; stepbrothers, Josh and Brayden of Chester, VA; her stepbrother and stepsister, Tracey and Sarah Davis of Greenville, NC; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, who all love her dearly. Samantha's love and caring for others was shown by her decision to donate her organs, and though she had to leave us, others will live because of her. Everyone who loved her is invited to her visitation at 10 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 West Hundred Rd in Chester, VA. Samantha always spoke of family as the most important thing in her life and a number one priority. She was extremely proud of being a big sister. Good bye sweet, smiling angel. Our hearts ache over how much we miss you. Condolences to the family may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
