Samuel Craig Winn, Jr., 35, of McKenney, passed away Monday, May 17, 2004. Born January 25, 1969 in Petersburg, he grew up in West Point, VA, and moved to Dinwiddie County in June, 1991. He was a Deputy with the Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Department with eleven years of service. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel C. Winn, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Becky Winn; son, Samuel Craig Winn, III; daughter, Brooke M. Winn all of McKenney; mother, Marsha Charboneau Richardson and husband, Jim; sister, Tammy Hill and her daughter, Allison all of Newburn, N.C.; maternal grandparents, Edith and Gilbert Charboneau of Dinwiddie; paternal grandfather, Claude Winn of Wilsons; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 20, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Ginn, pastor officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. tonight at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to McKenney Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 289, McKenney, VA 23872 or Dinwiddie Volunteer Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 11, Dinwiddie, VA 23841.
