Sandra Karen Shafer, 72, of Prince George, VA passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. Born in Seneca, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Harold Andrew and Helen Kirian Miller; and was also preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Ebersole. Ms. Shafer was a United States Army veteran and went on to retire from Ft. Lee civil service after 25 plus years of service. After retiring from Ft. Lee, she went on to be a dedicated volunteer at John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell, VA. Ms. Shafer was a devoted member of the Church of the Sacred Heart in Prince George. She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl A. Cabaniss (David) and Christina M. Ratliff; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Trey, Joshua, Jessica, Alexis, Jonathan, Kaitlyn, Morgan and Emily; two sisters, Wanda Steinmetz (Melvin) and Linda Molyett (Rob); three brothers, Bruce Miller (Nancy), Rodney Miller (Anna) and Dale Miller (Akemi); a brother-in-law, Evan “Butch” Ebersole; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the Church of the Sacred Heart, 9300 Community Lane, South Prince George, VA 23805, with Father Joseph Goldsmith, celebrant. Interment will be private. The family is being served by J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home of Hopewell, VA.
