Sara Foy Gay Eanes, passed away peacefully at her home in Chester, VA on Friday, December 1, 2017. Born March, 4, 1925, at the Yellow House in Chester. She was the daughter of the late John Greene Gay and Lottie Parker Gay. She was also preceded in death by her devoted husband, J. Walter Eanes, Sr. She is survived by her sons, James (Jamie) Walter Eanes, Jr. and Bruce John Eanes; granddaughters, Jessica Eanes and Jacquiline Frazier; great-grandson, Neil Frazier; sister, Polly Gay Bennett of Arkansas; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Eanes for many years was the head of the “Seniors Club” planning programs, field trips, and activities until she retired. She was an active member of Chester Baptist Church from birth until present day. It has been said she changed everyone’s diaper in Chester serving in the baby’s nursery for fifty years. She proudly sang soprano in the church choir. She was also a member of the Chester Women’s Club, Eastern Star, and Chesterfield Historical Society. Having lived her whole life in Chester she shared a wealth of stories about its development. Her most important role was an example to everyone she met and especially her family. Her cheerfulness despite her pain from rheumatoid arthritis inspired everyone. All will miss this angel on earth. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2017 at Chester Baptist Church, 4317 School St Chester, VA 23831. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son.
