On Thursday, January 7, 2016, the gates of Heaven opened and Sarah Ocile Beville went to be with her Lord and to join her sweet husband, William Calvin Beville. She is survived by her two sons, William O. Beville and Don J. Beville; grandsons, Jeffrey Jeter and Ry Beville; great-granddaughters, Allison Jeter and Kylie Beville; great-grandsons, Austin Jeter and Cy Beville; and sister, Doris Ferrell. Sarah was the twelfth of 14 children raised on a sustainable farm in Wilson, Va. The family produced all of their own food and earned cash by selling tobacco, corn and hay. Sarah was kind, compassionate and beautiful--inside and out--and an extremely active and enthusiastic member of her community. She was a devoted member of High Street United Methodist Church for 51 years and most recently was a member of Ocran United Methodist Church. Sarah was a founding board member of Interfaith Adult Day Care Center in Petersburg and was appointed by Dinwiddie County Board of Supervisors to serve on the Crater District Area Agency on Aging. She received numerous awards for serving the elderly in her community, including her work as a Christmas Sharing Foundation volunteer, United Way spokesperson and American Cancer Society volunteer. She was also the Christmas Mother for Dinwiddie County and worked with the Dinwiddie County Sheriff's Department to develop TRIAD to help keep the elderly safe and healthy. Professionally, Sarah was a supervisor and merchandise buyer for J.C. Penney. In her later years, she enjoyed modeling clothes for various stores. Sarah was a cherished aunt to dozens of nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. Her humor and passion for living endeared her to many friends. The beautiful flowers she tended every day are now singing to her in Heaven. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2016 at Ocran United Methodist Church, Sutherland, VA, followed by entombment at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Sarah requested that friends give a helpful hand to those in need.
