Scotia Attaway Synan died peacefully at home on Sunday, December 11, 2016. Mrs. Synan was predeceased by her precious husband Wayne N. Synan, her parents Caroline Gibson Reid and James Carlisle Attaway and her brother Cecil Reid Attaway. Mrs. Synan is survived by her children, Michael Synan of Orlando, FL (wife, Mindy and children Kinsley and Rylan) and Scotia Synan Lawson of Moseley, VA (husband, Brooks and children, Latta and Finn); step-daughter, Tracy Synan (husband Eric Nottmeier, MD and children Reese and Sloan) and step-son, Kevin Wayne Synan wife, Christy and children, Julian, Aubrie, and Hailee) and her brother, James Attaway, II (wife, Jimma). Mrs. Synan was graduated from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA with a degree in Chemistry. She was a systems Analyst for RF&P Railroad, then retired from corporate life to become a Homemaker, Mom, and Real Estate Manager of the family holdings. She worked for many years as an election official in Chesterfield County. Her husband Wayne was a Nationally ranked Croquet Champion and Scotia served as board keeper in croquet competitions. When he died she found comfort and joy line dancing with dear friends. She was a member of The Chester Women's Club, the Chester Garden Club, and was a 27 year member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Chester, VA where she served as Head of the Altar Guild for several years. The family will host a visitation from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, December 16th at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester. A Celebration of Life will be hosted 2:00 pm Saturday, December 17th at St. John's Episcopal Church, 12201 Richmond St., Chester. Burial will be private. Condolences may be registered at
