On December 28 2024, Heaven welcomed home a precious servant and dedicated witness Selesa Perkinson Rugar, 84, of Dinwiddie County. She was born in Petersburg, Virginia, to Thomas and Eunice Vaughn, where she resided most of her life. She was a faithful member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, where she was active in the Heavenly Bound Sunday School Class and the church choir. She was a retired employee of Hill Phoenix, Sola Optical, and Brown & Williamson Tobacco. Mrs. Rugar was preceded in death by both of her parents; her sisters, Shirley Mae and Annie Lee; her brothers, Jimmy, John, Peter, Billy, Glen, and Buck, and all of their respective spouses. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Ronald Clair Rugar; and her oldest son, David "Duck" Perkinson. She is survived by eight of her children and their spouses, Julie Rugar, Billy and Heather Rugar, Jimmy Perkinson, Tammie and Will Reese, Charlotte and Librado Reboyar-Ponce, Jerry and Annette Perkinson, Ron Rugar, and Linda and Paul Polanski. She was the proud grandmother, of Jacob (Jillian), Casey (Jake), Caelan, Zachary, Mindy (Matt), Mandy (Paul), Randy (Charity), Everett (Juno), Jerry Jr. (Rachel), Steve (Gina), Brad (Ashley), Paul (Heather), Courtney, Beth (Bob), Ron III (Victoria), Lisa, David III, Monica (Matt), Joe (Meredith), Steven (Emmy), and Daniel; as well as forty-five great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Patty. She was passionate about sharing her love for Christ and the plan of salvation with others. She also enjoyed writing cards, witnessing, and visitation. A funeral will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Pine Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Lee Moody and Robert Rowland. Interment to follow at Blandford Cemetery. The family will also receive friends for visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 am, on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Per her request, instead of a suit or fancy dress, please honor her by wearing something casual, her favorite color red, or a Christian inspired shirt.
