Shakira Diamond Henry, 19, of Chester, VA passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 10, 2015. She was a 2013 graduate of Thomas Dale High School, where she graduated with honors. Shakira continued her impressive academic accomplishments by attending the University of Richmond, majoring in finance and business administration. In her short life, Shakira touched many with her compassionate and inviting personality, her luminous smile and positive attitude. Friends described her as “great person to be around.” It was Shakira’s ability to encourage and uplift that made her a people-magnet. Outside of her studies, she spent much of her free time volunteering with local high school students. She also found the time to earn her black belt in Taekwondo.
She is survived by her mother, Roslyn P. Frederick; father, Daren A. Henry; sisters, Kayla Mellanson and Zoe Henry; brother, Zion Henry; grandparents, Lanis Shillingford, Veronica Benjamin, Charlie Henry and Albert Frederick; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd., Chester, VA 23831 on Friday, May 29th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Heights Baptist Church 17201 Jefferson Davis Highway Colonial Heights, VA 23834.Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Chester, VA.
